The comparison of a manufacturer's new formulation with another, or against a placebo, is a specialised sector containing a number of very established companies.
The sector is similar to the Pharmacy market in that product must be deblistered in order to repack it in a special form of packaging. However, there is a particular need for speed and flexibility of process, due to lead times being short.
It is sometimes the case that the Trials company's client can only give one or two weeks' notice of the packaging form to be deblistered - not enough time to have pack-specific tooling made, followed by a process speed of only 40 blisters per minute.
